Children as Teachers

One of my favorite insights I've gotten from channeling is from channeling soul contracts between parents and children.

As a society, we of course look at parents as the "teachers" and children as the "students" of the parents.

And while this of course makes sense and is true from the perspective that when children are born they rely on their parents (or parental figures) to teach them to eat, walk, talk, etc., I have found that children are also here to teach their parents (and others).

The word "teach" is not the most accurate description of what I have found through channeling for parents. From a higher level perspective, we all have soul contracts and have co-created our divine life blueprint before incarnating here.

One of the purposes of soul contracts between people is to help each other learn valuable lessons we came here to learn, and children (who eventually grow into adults) have soul contracts with their parents.

One particular private client of mine (we will call her Jamie) shared a situation with me during one of our sessions.

Jamie, her husband, and her 12-year-old daughter had been out one rainy evening and upon returning home when she opened the passenger door to step out Jamie realized there was a giant mud puddle that she would be unable to avoid when stepping out.

Jamie spent several minutes trying to figure out the best way to get out of the car while staying dry. After a few minutes of this her daughter (who we will call Emily) became visibly upset and yelled "What is wrong with you?? What is the big deal??!!!" and angrily got out of the car and slammed the door.

Jamie was confused as to why her daughter got so upset about this, and since she had already asked to use this particular session channeling for her daughter I asked my guides to help us understand what had happened during this situation.

What my guides shared with me was so beautiful and enlightening and explained much more than what had happened during this incident.

Emily's soul was incredibly adventurous, and typically chose incarnations where she could experience adventure and take risks.

One of Emily's soul contracts with Jamie was to bring play into her life, to create situations that reminded Jamie of how important play and joy are in life.

I'll add here that Jamie and her husband had also experienced massive trauma and loss years before when Emily was very young.

My guides showed me that when Jamie was co-creating her life blueprint which included the trauma and loss she would endure (which also had soul contracts aligned and which I had channeled for her during several sessions at the beginning of our work together), Emily had agreed to the role of "playful sprite" in her life.

When Emily got upset about the mud puddle incident, she had no reason to know that it was due to her soul's contract to help Jamie find more joy and play in life. Because she didn't (and most people don't) remember her soul contracts, she only felt the frustration that her mother was not looking at the mud puddle incident as an opportunity to play and have fun by stomping right through the puddle like an ecstatic child (which she would have done herself as a playful sprite).

My guides continued to provide other examples of this soul contract and Jamie began looking back at other times Emily had become agitated like this and found that they all aligned with times when Emily was upset that Jamie wasn't being more playful.

Knowing this information has helped Jamie not only look at and receive life differently, but she has shared that this insight has given her an incredibly deep understanding of her daughter which has led to an even stronger connection with less frustration and confusion.

Jamie was also able to thank Emily for her underlying desire to help bring more play into her life and helped Emily work through how to express herself more productively while honoring her soul's calling to bring more play to their life.

Oh, and one of Jamie's soul contracts with Emily is to help teach her safe boundaries in life because, as I mentioned earlier, Emily's soul tends to be a risk-taker and adventurous. What a perfect match these two are as mother and daughter in this lifetime!
